seeks to explore the space of traditional Chinese literati gardens. As a form of spatial imagination, time seems to work differently within and outside the gardens. A thousand years could have passed in the real world while merely a day in the gardens.
Using large format camera and b&w negatives, I try to transform the noisy tourist attractions that the gardens have become today into a mysterious realm, recorded on one single negative. The photographic images help us to look beyond the material world and find this hidden Faërie.
