At the time of visiting Maryhill, Washington for the first time, I didn't realize how significant this place would be for future me. This spot along the Columbia River Gorge is not only stunning, but also has some of the most amazing soil for fruit farms and winery's to thrive. I learned two years later, when we unexpectedly had to put our kitten Tony down due to him getting covid for cats, that they take the ashes of these animals and spread them in Maryhill to help enrich the fertile soil.
