Polar night: a phenomenon that only occurs inside Earth's polar circles where night lasts longer than 24 hours. This night lasted 55 days. I've worked in the Arctic for a few years and after my 12 hour shifts I venture into the darkness to capture what little light exists in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Whether it's generator lights, street lights, or the infamous aurora borealis, I'm drawn to it. I'm usually quite afraid of the dark, but being presented with only darkness forced me to break out of my comfort zone. I used my camera to help me overcome my fears.
