Some ago, I came across in two rare boxes of 12x18 11/16 inches Kodak Royal Bromide photographic paper, still wax-sealed, expired on “Jan. 1, 1947”. I insert the paper on film holders of my large format cameras. The long exposures (up to 30 minutes) allow me to get a positive image once developed. The Royal emulsion still reacts to chemicals and produce a twilight deep tone, giving me a unique print. This paper it’s a kind of invitation to reflect on the relationship between past and present; they merge together and flow like a river and suggests something that has been but will come back.
