My photographs of urban landscapes ask more questions than try to give answers. I capture bank lobbies, churches, courtyards, parking lots and other silent protagonists of the urban landscape, devoid of people. The empty vignettes speak as much to what’s in the frame as what’s not, depicting areas of Los Angeles that look like movie sets right after the crew has left. They invite the viewer to imagine characters and a plot. Are these places used as sets for reality? Is their creation inspired by what has been shown on screens? I used a large format 5x7 field camera and color negative film.
