The series was created during my several-month-long depressive episode. The helplessness, despair, and emptiness I felt at that time were overwhelming. I was looking for any way to feel even a little better. I took these photos for two reasons: first, to give some meaning to what was happening, and second, to regain at least a bit of agency and sense of control in my life. Today, I am grateful to myself for doing that. I chose expired black-and-white film so that the photos would best reflect my state at the time. Camera: Revue AC3s Film: expired Ilford HP5+
